Share Your Story

Every day, we see how outdoor recreation builds confidence, removes barriers, and strengthens bonds with family, friends, and peers.

We’d love to hear your story — how being part of Portneuf Valley Adaptive Sports (PVAS) has shaped your experience outdoors.

Your perspective can inspire others to see what’s possible and encourage more people to discover the joy of adaptive recreation.

Once you’ve submitted your story, it will appear on our website. If PVAS would like to share your story in other places, we’ll contact you first to ask your permission.

You might start by telling us:

What drew you to join PVAS?

How did you feel before your first activity?

What’s a moment outdoors that really stuck with you?

How has this experience changed your confidence, independence, or outlook?

What would you tell someone who’s thinking about trying adaptive recreation?

Your story matters — thank you for sharing it with the PVAS community.

My Story

Dana Olson

Hello! My name is Dana Olson, and I’m thrilled to be part of bringing Portneuf Valley Adaptive Sports to life. Recreating alongside people with disabilities has completely changed my perspective on what’s possible.

Some of my most cherished memories include helping someone experience the thrill of sliding on snow for the first time, spending a week on the river surrounded by laughter and community, and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with my friends Kyle Packer and Tom McCurdy.

These experiences have inspired me to keep opening doors—to create spaces of inclusion, belonging, and shared adventure for everyone. I can’t wait to meet new friends on the ski slopes or wherever our life journeys may cross!

My Story

David Kriner

Hi there,

My name is David Kriner. I’ve been involved with adaptive programming for about 15 years, first as a volunteer and later as a director of an adaptive program for eight years — a dream come true for me.

I’ve always loved skiing and sharing that passion with others. One of my fondest memories was skiing with an 8-year-old boy with a spinal cord injury who used a wheelchair. I brought a bi-ski, and as soon as he saw it, he jumped right in and began figuring it out.

For the first time in his life, he was physically equalor even superiorto his peers in a sport. Seeing the joy and confidence that brought him was one of the most rewarding moments of my career.

I’m truly looking forward to working with PVAS and sharing in the rewards it will bring for everyone involved.

All good things,
David
